Our non-mounted Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy and Learning sessions are guided by the unique needs and goals of each participant. Each session is facilitated by an Equine Specialist in partnership with a licensed Mental Health Professional, ensuring both emotional safety and clinical support throughout the experience. Together, the team creates a trauma-informed, person-centered space where participants can feel safe, supported, and empowered as they work toward healing and growth.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, each experience is shaped by what the individual brings into the space. Horses, as highly intuitive and responsive animals, offer immediate and honest feedback—helping participants build awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in the present moment.
Through this work, participants often build important skills such as:
Understanding Emotions
Learning to notice, name, and understand emotions and what triggers them
Regulating Emotions
Developing tools to manage strong emotions and feel more in control
Calming the Body
Helping the body move out of “fight, flight, or freeze” and feel safe again
Body Awareness
Noticing physical cues like tension, stress, or discomfort
Trust and Connection
Building trust in themselves and learning how to feel safe with others
Confidence and Empowerment
Feeling more capable, making choices, and using their voice
Resilience
Learning how to handle stress and adapt to challenges
Staying Present (Mindfulness)
Staying focused in the present moment and connected to yourself instead of the past or worries.
Relationship Skills
Practicing communication, boundaries, and healthy interactions
